The Maryland Initiative for Responsible Gambling (M.I.R.G.) was established in 2007, and is working towards becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation in 2008. M.I.R.G. is an educational, research and advocacy organization.  It is gaming neutral, taking no position either for or against legalized gambling. M.I.R.G. currently receives no financial support from the state or any other funding agencies. Consequently, we are working independently to help provide Marylanders with, public awareness, education, prevention, training and resource development services. We are also committed to work with the state, in helping to inform policies related to responsible gambling. We are currently working to update our site, to include more resources and to make it more user friendly. Please feel free to contact our members through the emails on this site (and to ask how you can get involved with our cause).

Our first objectives are: 1) public awareness; and 2) gathering baseline data to inform campus and state health and public policy initiatives in this area.  We seek to achieve the above goal, by directing our efforts towards: treatment, education, research and prevention (T.E.R.P.).
